
The
majority of web designers are very technically focussed,
producing standard repetitive website designs. Melissa Heppell's
academic history follows a strong artistic background. Melissa
studied at the University of London and obtained a BSc in
Architecture. Her interests progressed through to media based
arts and eventually website and media design and Interactive
web development.
After
graduating from the University of London, Melissa spent
2 years working as Picture Editor for Yachts and Yachting
Magazine, the UK's top performance Sailing Magazine,
where her interests and skills expanded to include photography
and print media, and enhancing her design skills, through
work in the magazine. Whilst at Yachts and Yachting Melissa
also did some time as Acting Website Editor, working
on the upkeep and news editing of the Yachts
and Yachting website, increasing her understanding
and interests of the techical aspects of web development.
In
2006 Melissa relocated to Portland in Dorset to specialise
in full time freelance Webdesign. Melissa specialises
in designing creative online brochures, flash animation,
e-commerce websites and user managed websites for both
small and large agencie. Alongside the website design
work Melissa has also worked in areas of film, running
a film editing web project for a sailing regatta event
in Cowes and producind a DVD distributed in the UK and
America covering the regatta.
